mostly i take what art historians have to say with a large grain of salt, i remember taking a art history course at S.I.U. were the prof said that aldorfer's 2 prints of a jewish house of worship proved that the artist was a humanist were in fact the prints were published after the place of worship was burned and the jews were expelled from the city. the artist was on the city council that had ordered the Jews to be expelled. the Jews were also expelled from the city of Nerumberg in Durer time as well
